There's some bad news. The 2nd week in I forgot to mention that Megan Lee a student that was in the program had to go home because her dad had a heart attack and passed away, and while she was in the States her grandfather had passed away. She hasn't returned and most likely wont. Last week friday we found out that another student left us Lilly. Her reasons were different from the start once she got to D.C. she didn't want to do this. We tried to convince her that it would be great, but she missed her boyfriend who's a junior in high school, and probably other people back home. We are a little upset that she had taken a spot of someone who really wanted to come. So there are only 23 of us now. 8 girls 15 boys.
Monday: I went to class from 9-1 like everyday of the week nothing unusually about that. Expect for that Helid the area rep. for Bonn was our teacher for the day and I felt that I've learned more from her than I have in the weeks we've been in class. Then again I must remind myself that no normal person can learn a language in 7 weeks. It takes a baby a year or two just to figure out how to say a few small phrases. It takes a while for the brain to switch, translate, and communicate in a different language. Anyways on Monday after lunch we had to meet up at the parking spot across the street from the AIB since that day we were going to hang out with some german students all over Germany. It was weird at first talking to Karin and Peter was cool I learned some from them. We had gone to Hurtgenwald it's a WWII site. After that we went back to the castle where they were staying it's a hotel/cafe place. We played american football and chatted with the students. I meet someone from Freiburg and he's going to show me around Freiburg once I get there. He's into dancing and knows how to so I'm going to see if I can get into the dance studio and attempet to dance....lol.
Tuesday/Wednesday: Class like normal and after class we kind of just hang out around the AIB chillin, taking naps, reading, going on the computer, finishing up lunch, and/or doing homework. It's a nice place to be when you don't want to spend money to do something and don't want to go back home right away. Some kids went back to the Haribo factory, and others made a american cheese cake for Hartwig.
Thursday: Class in the morning, then after lunch we went to Koln to meet up with Hartwig. It was Hartwig's birthday and so our group made him a card signed it, and also made him a cheese cake from the US, and put strawberries on it. We toured around Koln and had another pastrie (Sp) testing which is the best part I must add. It was also Sarah's last day with us she was heading back to the states the next day. So most of us stayed out until 10pm with her and then had to go home since we had classes the next day. Sarah remined me of Emily my older sister so much that it was sad for her to leave.
Friday: We listened to Mason give his presentation on electrionic music in german it was really cool. I understood half of it so at least I know that I'm learning something here in germany. After that we had class, but after the second break we came back and played a game it was where we had to put someone's name famous, or someone that we all knew on the forehead of the person next to us and then ask in german questions about the name that was on our forehead. It was a fun game. After lunch at 2pm I and a couple other kids in my class took an extra hour to learn more german. It's mainly learning how to converse. We'll be doing it every Wed. and Fri.
Saturday: I went and got some school supplies and found a tank-top for 3 euros which is a good deal in Bonn. Me and Nathalie hanged out since we both were missing Sarah. Around 7pm we both headed out in search of the place where my host parents were playing that night. It was a big outdoor party, but the problem is my host parents knew the town, but not the stop. There were 5 different stops we could have gotten off. After a half hour me and Nat were stressed and decided to go to Bad Godesberg to chill with a couple of people and told Ralf, that we were sorry taht we couldn't make it. We all left around 1:40 and waited for the night bus that didn't come it was around.....about 2:20 that we decided to walk than to take a taxi. So we all walked from Bad Godesberg to Bonn which took about 3 hours it was nice though you could see the stars. I didn't get home until 5am, and after a shower and checking my facebook I didn't get to bed until 6am.
Sunday: Today well I got up at 2:30pm thinking it was still dark and wondering why it was. Forgetting that these blinds here block out sunlight so good that your room can be dark in the middle of the afternoon which is nice. I opened up my blinds and got blinded by the light not reailzing that it was that bright out. I had my lunch at 3pm and most likely supper will be at 7pm tonight. I'm just relaxing at home and fixing up my notes, reading, and listening to music.
I have 3 more weeks until I go off to Freiburg. I'm getting so comfy here in Bonn and I have friends. It's just like when I left the states going to make new friends.
